CHATEAU DE COUCHES

CHATEAU DE SULLY
One of France’s most romantic chateaux, an impressive medieval moated fortress. Fully furnished. The Inner courtyard is an exceptional example of French Renaissance architecture but don’t miss the graceful 18th century façade with its terrace on the water. The guided tours make history come alive. The Scottish born Duchesse of Magenta & her children, descendants of the Dukes of Burgundy, live here all year around. Their ancestor Filed Marshal Mac Mahon is the only French President born & brought up in Burgundy.

CHATEAU DE BAZOCHES
Built in the twelfth century, halfway up a wooded hill, upon the site of an old Roman post on the gateway to Morvan, with a direct view on Vezelay (at 10 km), the feudal Château de Bazoches, has a trapezoidal architecture made up of four towers and a keep surrounding an inner courtyard.The Marshal de Vauban acquired in 1675 Bazoches that had successively belonged to the lords of Bazoches, Chastellux, Montmorillon and la Perrière.
